Getting started
Can I evaluate Time Log for free?
Yes. The evaluation version gives you up to 250 time log records a month, free and with no credit card, so you can try Time Log on your own work items before you buy. It is for evaluation only; for ongoing use, move to Premium.
How do I install Time Log?
Install it from the Azure DevOps Marketplace: click Get it free and choose your organisation. The Time Log tab appears on work items straight away, and Time Log Summary is in the main navigation.
What happens when I hit the 250 record limit?
You are notified as you approach it. Once reached, you can't create new time logs until next month or until you upgrade; the limit can be raised on request. Existing time logs stay available for viewing and reporting, and your data is never deleted.
Does it work with Azure DevOps Server (on-premise)?
Yes. Time Log works with both Azure DevOps Services (cloud) and Azure DevOps Server (on-premise).
Features
Does Time Log update Remaining Work automatically?
Yes. Completed Work and Remaining Work update as you log time, so burndown charts and capacity planning reflect real progress.
Can several people log time to the same work item?
Yes. Each person's time is tracked separately with a combined total, which suits pair programming and team ceremonies.
Can I edit or delete time entries?
Yes, unless an admin has locked entries on or before a lockdown date.
Does it work with Sprints and Kanban boards?
Yes: Sprints, Kanban, Scrum and custom boards. Time can be logged on any work item type.
What are time types?
Categories such as Development, Support, Testing or Documentation for better reporting, set per project or for the whole organisation in Project Settings, Extensions, Time Log Admin. A disabled type's entries can be moved to another type. Watch the video
Can I see my weekly timesheet?
Yes. My Time Log shows all your time for any week, with no need to open each work item. Watch the video
Is there a REST API?
Yes. Every Time Log operation is available through the REST API.
Pricing and billing
How does pricing work?
Premium is pay as you go: records are bought up front and used as time is logged. £50 per 1,000 records, 10% off 50,000 and 20% off 100,000. Unlimited users and projects, full REST API, card or bank transfer. See pricing
How many users can use Time Log?
Unlimited. You pay per record, not per user.
Do unused records expire?
No. They roll over indefinitely.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes. There is no long-term commitment.
How do I get Premium?
Premium is a private Marketplace extension. Sign a short licence agreement and we share it with your organisation, along with your REST API key. Get in touch to start.
